Who Should attend:

This course is aimed at Mangers and Supervisors and all those with responsibility for controlling work in Confined Spaces and/or carrying out risk assessments prior to permitting entry into Confined Spaces.
Delegates should already be capable of carrying out general risk assessments. This course is not suitable for those who have a need to enter/work in a Confined Space.

Aims:

A number of people are killed or seriously injured in the UK each year in confined spaces, incidents like this happen across many industries, from those involving complicated machinery through to simple storage solutions. This classroom based course will provide awareness of the legal responsibilities placed on Employers in relation to Confined Spaces and on those that they designate as controlling that responsibility on their behalf. On successful completion of the course delegates will be aware of the requirements of the Confined Spaces Regulations 1997, the need for Risk Assessments, be capable of carrying out a risk assessment and subsequently developing Safe Systems of Work for entry into a Confined Space.

Course Content:

  • Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974
  • Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007
  • The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999

  • An overview of recent legislation
  • A group base exercise
  • A 20 question multi-choice paper

Candidate Assessment:

Continuous assessment by the trainer with an end of course multiple choice assessment and group assessment exercise.

Qualification:

On successful completion of the course delegates will receive a certificate of attendance.
